[5∞ Photo sharing/social website review]

I am in the process of reviewing a photo sharing/social website called 500px. It's not new and you may have already heard of it, but it's had several revisions since it's creation in 2003.

With various portfolio themes to show off your work and a profile page which looks very similar to facebook, allowing you to view your photos, post blogs, display friends work, activity updates and even post to your wall. Plus they have teamed up with FotoMoto, to enable you to sell your pics.

It's free to join but only basic features. To 'upgrade to awesome!' it'll cost you US$50 a year, this will get you full functionality of the site, ad blocking, custom design & domain and unlimited uploads. I find this quite expensive as they only have a following of 35k+ compared to flickr which is just US$24.95 a year for pro users and has over 30million members. It also offers 300mb upload per month for free users where 500px only allows 20 photos per week!

So far the website has been a bit buggy but a step in the right direction... it's as though flickr, facebook and behance went into the blender and this is what came out! If you give it a try, please comment below with how you got on...

[From the darkroom]

These pictures were easily edited using basic techniques in Aperture or Lightroom, before and after shown below. By simply adjusting colours and cropping you can improve and achieve a look which used to be reserved for film cameras!
